EU can improve human rights situation in Belarus

One year ago the European Union temporarily lifted the travelban on Belarusian politicians and civil servants, hoping that this would lead to an improved human rights situation in the country. In November the future of the sanctions will be decided. Fifty international and Belarusian organisations recommend, in a new report, that EU keeps the travelban lifted for another period in order to make long-term changes possible for Belarus. The Belarusian authors of the report are in Stockholm to argue their case.

Andrei Aliaksandrau, Belarusian Association of Journalists, BAJ
Tatsiana Revjaka, Human rights organisation Viasna
Tatsiana Hatsura, Belarusian Helsinki Committee
Katarina Przybylska, East European Democratic Centre

A short presentation of the report will be followed by questions from the audience. The seminar will be in English and partly interpreted to Belarusian.
