In the beginning of 2008 a wave of violence was spread across Kenya. The election results from December 2007 were questioned and lead to massive riots. More than 1 000 people lost their lives and close to 600 000 were displaced.

“Getting Justice: Kenya’s deadly game of wait and see” is a documentary about the search for  those responsible for the violence but also a story about the possibilities for reconciliation in Kenya. The film gives voice to the survivors and their wish and need to overcome what has happened. In the film there is also a comparison with Rwanda, as a contemporary example of how another country has handled issues about justice and reconciliation after a large crisis, like the one in Rwanda in 1994.

After the screening a discussion will follow with the human rights defender Maina Kiai. Maina Kiai was the first Chairman of the Kenya National Comission on Human Rights.
