Little respect for rule of law in unrecognized territories
In the breakaway region on Moldova’s eastern border with Ukraine, the socio-political environment in the Transnistria region remains highly repressive. In this unrecognized territory authorities act with impunity. There is little respect for the rule of law, and fundamental human rights are routinely violated.
12 March the Executive Director of Promo-LEX Association, Ion Manole, will present an assessment of the current human rights situation in Transnistria and address these grave violations. Known for his firm stance on human rights violations in the Transnistria, Ion Manole is one of the most knowledgeable and experienced experts on the region.
About Promo-LEX Association:
Together with Civil Rights Defenders Promo-LEX Association provides legal assistance to Transnistrians whose rights have been violated. These are crucial joint efforts, as human rights defenders and civil society activists in the territory often face harassment, interrogations, defamation and potential imprisonment
To address these grave issues Civil Rights Defenders, is establishing a field office in Chisinau, Moldova in order to work more closely with our partners protecting human rights.
