Raising awareness of the new non-discrimination law with the AHC

Our cooperation with the Albanian Helsinki Committee for Human Rights (AHC) in this specific project aims at improving the situation regarding protection against discrimination in Albania by improving the implementation of the new law on non-discrimination. We do this by raising awareness on the new law particularly among faculty students and professors as well as teachers and pupils from high schools. We also assist in drafting internal regulation and procedures of the Institution of the Commissioner against Discrimination and to lobby key actors to approve them.

AHC is an old project partner and is one of our key partners in Albania. During 2010 we also cooperate in another project that combine concrete legal aid work with raising public awareness on human rights protection mechanisms, as well as advocacy and lobbying for improvement or implementation of legislation and judicial practice. During 2010 AHC will, in addition, with the assistance of Civil Rights Defenders develop a new strategy for 2011-13.
