Improving self regulation in print media

Civil Rights Defenders cooperation with Press Council of Bosnia and Herzegovina is all about a continuous improvement of self regulation in print media. Our efforts are aimed at enhancing the ethical standards and the usage of the two defamation laws, in order to reduce the number of media outlets and journalists charged for compensation damages in defamation trials.

The Press Council of Bosnia and Herzegovina was founded in year 2000. It seeks to protect the freedom of speech and media, but also to maintain standards in media, and serve as a fast and reliable institution for the general public to turn to if mistreated by  print media. We have worked with the Press Council since 2004, providing institutional support and advice in regard to the development of the organisation and its activities.
